"No! It can't be!" I let out an internal hiss. "He would not dare come here!" "What the f*ck, Zara!" Levi bumped into me and growled behind me. "Sorry," I mumbled, wide-eyed. "What's going on with-" Levi's voice faltered when my father turned away from us and approached his table, confirming my worst fears: Noah f*cking Flinch! "Is that?" Levi mind-linked, and I nodded my head. "What brings him here?" He mind-linked. "Come, come, have a seat, Zara," my father called out to me. "We have a lot to discuss." "Beta, you are welcome to sit," my father gestured toward the lover's couch near the wall. Levi cast a sidelong glance at Noah and shook his head. "Thank you, Alpha," Levi grinned stiffly and said. "However, I would prefer to be at Luna's side. "Very well," my father said. "Suite yourself." "Zara," he uttered next. "I understand that you are familiar with Alpha Noah." I forcefully swallowed the lump that had appeared in my throat, and I slowly nodded my head. "Great," my father said, sitting back in his chair. "Alpha Noah has also informed me that you are his fated mate." "What is your father talking about?" Levi growled over the mind-linked. "Is he your mate? How come you have not told me? Are you keeping secrets from me?" "Don't play the protective beta now," Kaya barked back at him, making Levi quiet. "You are giving me a bloody headache!" I gave a nod in response to most of the questions, staying silent throughout. "Superb, Alpha Noah has requested your hand." All the hair on my body rose. The b*st*rd was using my father to approach me. "Is that so?" I finally found my voice. Both my father and Alpha Noah nodded. "Interesting," I said as I stood up. "Were you told by Alpha Noah that he rejected me more than a year ago?" "He did what?" Levi roared behind me. "There is more," I said. "He rejected me in favor of a mate he chose." **** Zara Silverwood is a silver wolf descended from one of the most powerful packs on the continent. A year after he rejects her, her fated mate comes knocking on her door to tell her he is back to claim her. After Zara turns down his proposal, he goes behind her back and asks her father for her hand. The old Alpha agrees to the arrangement. Zara is unhappy and decides to handle things on her own. She informs her father that she has taken a chosen mate, her Beta, and her best friend, Levi—only he has a little secret. What will happen when Zara's second chance mate attends her and Levi's mating ceremony? Will he stop the proceedings and claim her as his mate? Or is Zara's destiny already set? A story about two broken hearts finding each other and getting s*ck*d into a web of lies and prophecies. Will Zara find the happiness she so deserves?

When I was a child, my grandma used to tell me stories. At the time, I never gave them much thought. Thinking they were just that… stories. Growing up, I soon realized that they weren’t lofty fantasies and fairy tales but memories of her past, memories of our ancestors before our world turned to sh*t. You see, what comes from legend, no matter how exaggerated the story becomes, there is always a sliver of truth. You just need to weed out the fiction from fact. My grandmother used to tell me stories of the Chosen One—the one who would save us all. When I was younger, I used to believe that what she said was true. Eventually, someone would be born, just as the Oracle predicted—someone who could save our souls and bind us back to our magic. Once I grew up and saw the world unfolding around me, I no longer believed in salvation. The chosen one seemed to be more of a prayer than reality. Some dream we wanted desperately to come true. Something in which we needed to find hope when there wasn’t any left. When our ancestors turned their backs on us, how were we expected to believe in this so-called salvation? Especially when all we witnessed was death and carnage ever since the great war. Nothing except pain and poverty. I used to believe the stories and used to pray for the mysterious chosen one that would rid our world of its evil. Now, though, I see it for what it really is, just a dream of hope. Some out of reach fairy-tale. A story to create hope. Hope is dangerous; it makes you believe things will get better. I stopped hanging on to hope when I witnessed firsthand that it caused nothing but heartache.
