Tittle: Mirror Of The World; My Journey As a Writer, By Murf_lee_hat INTRODUCTION: Hello fellow writers and readers, my name is Murf_lee_hat, a passion driven writer who climb through the hurdles of childhood with my head usually buried in books that heightens the fantasies that lives in my mind .Today, I am glad I was that known bookworm and I still am. I want to share with you some of my experiences as a writer, the hurdles and stumbling blocks I demolished and some of the lessons I learned along my journey as a fictional author. EXPERIENCE: My writing journey started a little early in life. I was barely twelve years old when I started penning down short stories turning my mother’s notepad into novella. Four years ago, I decided to take on the journey of tapping into my imaginative mind and talent. Creating relatable fictional characters was really my stronghold, I try to put myself in the character’s position and tailor my actions accordingly. My dialogues were always on point and also my storytelling but I struggled terribly with creating a weak female protagonist and punctuation. With each constructive criticism from readers and writers like myself, I began adjusting till I became confident in my own ability to create compelling stories that gets my readers hooked and I am still on the journey to improving my craft as I collaborate with other authors to learn more about writing and improving my self development. LESSONS LEARNT: Here are some of the lessons I learnt along my journey as a professional writer; To always be open to change and adjustments: The world is evolving and so are readers, to be able to meet up their expectations, being rigid in old craft is a bad habit. To connect emotionally; creating relatable characters requires emotional investment on the part of the author and it gives me joy that it is one of my strengths. Embracing the process: storylines generated from raw ideas tailored into compelling outlines and then fashioned into chapters, it cannot be skipped, each process requires genuine effort on your part as an author. Seek support: working alone isn’t going to help you, join writer’s groups, you need to read from other perspectives,because every time you write, each reader ends up forming his/her personal opinion of each of your characters. CONCLUSION: As my writing experience has been a rollercoaster, I cherish it so much. The improvement and enlightenment I have gained over the years is enough encouragement for me to keep creating and as I continue in my journey of writing, I aim to learn more and I hope my journey inspires you towards taking the leap towards your innate passion for writing.
